Feral Feline: Existing in a wild or untamed state; having returned to an untamed state from domestication. Basically, a domesticated animal that has turned wild.
Colony: A group of community cats who are bonded to each other and live together in a specific area outdoors. Colonies are sometimes maintained by community cat caregivers. Colonies depend on the care of compassionate people.
Ear Tipping: Why are feral felines right ears tipped during spay/neuter? This is uniformly done so that a cat can be easily recognized when determining if a feral cat has already been spayed/neutered. If caught in a trap, one knows it has already been spayed/neutered and can release it.
Trap Neuter Return (TNR):
Feral felines are humanely trapped, taken to a veterinarian for spay/neuter, and returned/released to their colony when stable.
